Changes made by US embassy in Students visa for immigration
Changes made by US embassy for students Visa
Many Indian students would plan to go to the USA for their Masters or doctoral study this fall because the country is opening its boundaries after loosing COVID 19 restrictions. The US embassy plans some changes for the student's Visa application this year. The change seems to be positive and the number of visas for Indian students could also increase as said by “Donald L Helfin, minister counsellor for consular affairs, US Embassy, Delhi”. Mr Helfin stated that “last year they had issued about 62,000 student visas to Indian students which is way more than ever before. This year the number is expected to be more than last year, but eventually, that depends on how well the students are prepared. Previous year there were some problems faced by the US embassy that seem to be changed this year. Click here to consult with Anu Peshawaria
Website crashed and many non genuine applications.
Previous year the embassy faced two problems. The first problem was the website crash of the embassy due to the large number of applicants. Another problem was that many students who were rejected twice or thrice also applied for the Visa and bought slots. In the first half the genuine students had bought the slots and in the second half all those who were rejected twice or thrice had bought the slots.
Change in the software for genuine students
One of the problems faced by the US embassy was that students who were rejected were again applying for the visa. The US embassy has made changes in the software to prevent the Visa application of previously rejected students. Now only those students can apply for Student visas who were not previously rejected. Besides, the U.S embassy has advised students to keep checking its website for interview dates and to schedule their Visa appointments as soon as they get their documents from their universities as no special timeline will be provided to them.
Visa interview waiver scheme
In the previous year, The US government started a visa waiver scheme which benefited many Indian students studying there. This interview waiver scheme is used by many students who study in the US and want to travel India to meet their family members or for any other purposes. Currently there are many slots available in this scheme.
Parents of the students can also accompany them to the US if they have a valid visitor pass for this fall. However, those who have never had a visa will not be able to go. Those parents who have B1-B2 visas that have expired in the last few years can try to grab a drop box appointment to renew their visas. To know more about this click on the given hyperlink.
